Guns N' Roses marks the highest unit sales # of any IGA debut in 2008
In retrospect, we report that the last Guns N' Roses full length album "The Spaghetti Incident?" debuted at #4 on album chart with 189,648 sales (Nov '93)
Other new releases this week-
- Kanye West- #1 on chart, selling 450K units (last album released in Sept 07, sold 957K first week)
- Taylor Swift 'Fearless' was #2 on Top 200 chart (+23% in its 3rd week of release, selling 267,371 to take #2 position)
- Ludachris - 213K units - #5 album chart (last album released in Oct 06, sold 309K first week)

chinesedemocracy.com Preface: In consideration of the short length of time Chinese Democracy has been available, it has garnered a minimum of one hundred spins through my home stereo. While it is both arrogant and unrealistic to believe that one could possibly do proper justice to a record so long in the making by reviewing it after such brief familiarity, please understand that this reviewer has taken in this epic piece of art with all objectivity. For many of us Guns N' Roses is so much more than a rock band. It is an idea, it is a special feeling. It is a treasured memory and finally, it is a love thought lost once again recaptured. Yes, I am a Guns N' Roses fan. One who never believed the classic lineup would be replaceable. One who couldn't imagine the greatest band of my generation could be remade, no matter how ambitious the creative vision. Chinese Democracy has proven to me that Axl Rose, for all of his shortcomings that have been amplified, exaggerated and taken out of context in the media, is one of the most brilliant musical minds of the modern day. |
